Canning uses heat sterilization; pickling uses vinegar solutions and brining uses salt solutions. Establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing mixtures of dried ingredients, such as soup mixes and salad dressing mixes, are included provided they dehydrate at least one of the ingredients.
